About the clinic
Do you suffer with blocked ears? Muffled hearing? Earache? We can help. Audiologists at our Maidstone clinic specialise in all methods of ear wax removal, but after years of research we have chosen microsuction as a preferred ear cleaning method. Microsuction professional ear wax removal procedure is gentle and safe – it is performed using precision instruments, microscope and medical-grade suction. It carries much lower risk of ear infection or damage to ears and often does not require any wax softening.
We can also perform ear syringing or manual wax removal if the case warrants it, although in 90% microsuction is advised.
The ear wax procedure (by any method) costs £55 in our Maidstone clinic.
Free, dedicated patient car park.
The professional ear cleaning is always performed by the highly qualified and skilled Audiologist, with years of experience and vast knowledge of ear health.
As well as ear wax removal, All Ears! specialises in comprehensive hearing tests, latest Bluetooth and rechargeable digital hearing aids, sophisticated dizziness/balance rehabilitation, tinnitus treatment and custom hearing protection products.
The over-production of ear wax causes discomfort for 1 in 15 people in the UK and can some of the time be mistaken for hearing impairment.
The production of ear wax is an entirely natural phenomenon to guard your ears from foreign bodies.
Ear wax is there for a reason. It keeps the skin of the ear canal healthy and normally works its own way out. Trouble starts when it builds up and blocks the canal: your hearing goes muffled, the ear feels full, and some people get itching, earache, ringing or dizziness.
Softening drops are the usual first step. The NHS suggests 2 to 3 drops of medical-grade olive or almond oil, 3 to 4 times a day for 3 to 5 days, unless you might have a hole in your eardrum. If the ear is still blocked after that, book in for removal with a clinic in Maidstone.
Try not to dig the wax out with cotton buds or fingers. They tend to push it deeper and can scratch the canal, which makes it harder to remove. Our guide to the signs of ear wax build-up explains what to look out for.

Your appointment
Every clinic has its own way of doing things, and Maidstone Clinic will talk you through theirs. This is how a typical ear wax removal appointment goes.
Some clinics suggest softening the wax with olive oil drops for a few days first, so ask when you book. Mention any ear surgery, a perforated eardrum or grommets.
The clinician asks about your symptoms, then checks both ears with an otoscope or a microscope before deciding how to remove the wax.
Microsuction is noisy but rarely painful. Some clinics use warm-water irrigation or a small instrument instead. Allow around half an hour.
Most people hear more clearly straight away. Brief dizziness or a little soreness usually settles quickly. Get help if you have pain, discharge, bleeding or worse hearing.
