About Knowle Clinic

Fast and pain-free earwax removal at reasonable prices performed in our Knowle hearing clinic

Over 20 years experience as an audiologist with national companies and has now set up her own independent audiology business to provide a better service to customers.

We are located down Kimbells Walk off the main High Street.

We understand that hearing loss is a very sensitive and personal issue and that is why every patient will receive individual care with utmost compassion. We will take every patient through their journey from the initial consultation to fitting of hearing aids and then life time aftercare. We are dedicated to delivering outstanding levels of customer care because I genuinely care for every patient’s well-being.

A little about our services

The initial consultation, which will include a full audiometric hearing test, will help us understand your hearing loss and your needs. We will then be able to give you my best professional advice. As part of our continuing care we will only provide the very best solutions for our patients and will only use hearing aid manufacturers that offer the best technology available. Choosing a hearing system is only the start of your journey, what is vital is the continuing after care and support which is free of charge for life.

Micro suction

We offer a comfortable and effective ear wax removal service using micro- suction. This is a preferred method of treatment for medical staff as the process is clearly visible throughout. It is the safest way of removing wax, unlike syringing where the ear is flushed out without the view of the canal.

The over-production of ear wax is present in 1 in 15 people in the UK and can occasionally be misunderstood to be hearing impairment.

A high quantity of ear wax is a benign process to guard your ears from external elements.

When to book ear wax removal in Solihull

Ear wax is there for a reason. It keeps the skin of the ear canal healthy and normally works its own way out. Trouble starts when it builds up and blocks the canal: your hearing goes muffled, the ear feels full, and some people get itching, earache, ringing or dizziness.

Softening drops are the usual first step. The NHS suggests 2 to 3 drops of medical-grade olive or almond oil, 3 to 4 times a day for 3 to 5 days, unless you might have a hole in your eardrum. If the ear is still blocked after that, book in for removal with a clinic in Solihull.

Try not to dig the wax out with cotton buds or fingers. They tend to push it deeper and can scratch the canal, which makes it harder to remove. Our guide to the signs of ear wax build-up explains what to look out for.

Your appointment

What to expect at your appointment

Every clinic has its own way of doing things, and Knowle Clinic will talk you through theirs. This is how a typical ear wax removal appointment goes.

Before you go

Some clinics suggest softening the wax with olive oil drops for a few days first, so ask when you book. Mention any ear surgery, a perforated eardrum or grommets.
A look inside your ears

The clinician asks about your symptoms, then checks both ears with an otoscope or a microscope before deciding how to remove the wax.
The removal

Microsuction is noisy but rarely painful. Some clinics use warm-water irrigation or a small instrument instead. Allow around half an hour.
Afterwards

Most people hear more clearly straight away. Brief dizziness or a little soreness usually settles quickly. Get help if you have pain, discharge, bleeding or worse hearing.
